Your brand needs attention. TikTok gives you a way to earn it.
TikTok is a platform for promoting products, services, creative work, and personal brands through short-form video. The goal isn’t simply to go viral. It’s to make people notice your brand, understand what you offer, and remember you.
Three Ways to Promote Your Brand
1. Teach Something
Give your audience a useful tip, tutorial, or demonstration. Make your content worth watching even for someone who has never heard of your brand.
Think: What can you teach in 20 seconds?
Example: A science educator turns an experiment into short-form video.

2. Show Your Process
Show how you make something, solve a problem, or develop an idea. People are interested in how things work.
Think: What happens behind the scenes of your brand?
Example: A visual science demonstration communicates an idea through action.
@chemteacherphil <p>I was going to become a polymer chemist, but the work was too repetitive. #learnontiktok</p> ♬ Oblivion - Grimes </section> </blockquote> MADTINKERBLOCKTOKEN1END</div></div></div>
3. Make People Remember You
Use storytelling, humor, surprising visuals, or a distinctive personality. Your videos should feel like your brand, not a copy of everyone else’s content.
Think: What makes your brand different?
Example: A science demonstration uses a visual surprise to capture attention.

Five Rules for Better TikTok Videos
- Hook them. Give viewers a reason to stop scrolling.
- Keep it focused. One video, one main idea.
- Show your brand. Use consistent colors, typography, and personality.
- Edit with purpose. Use vertical video, readable text, captions, and intentional sound.
- Give viewers a next step. Ask them to follow, comment, visit your website, or explore your work.
Use music cleared for commercial use. TikTok’s Commercial Music Library is a useful resource.
How Do You Know It’s Working?
Look beyond views. Pay attention to watch time, shares, comments, saves, profile visits, and website clicks. Choose metrics that match your goal.
Explore the TikTok Creative Center for trends and creative inspiration.
The takeaway: Don’t just make videos. Make videos that communicate your brand.
Your Assignment: Promote Your Brand on TikTok
Create three short videos promoting your own brand. Each video must have a different purpose:
- Video 1: Introduce it. What is your brand, and why should people care?
- Video 2: Demonstrate it. Show your product, service, skills, or creative process.
- Video 3: Engage them. Use storytelling, humor, a relevant trend, or a question to encourage interaction.
Make your videos recognizable as part of the same brand campaign.
Requirements
- Three vertical videos, 15–30 seconds each.
- Consistent brand identity.
- Strong opening, clear message, and intentional editing.
- Captions, relevant hashtags, and an appropriate call to action.
- A short presentation explaining your choices and a reflection on what you would improve.
Deliver: Three MP4 videos, captions, and a brief campaign presentation.
Grading: Brand consistency (20%), creativity (30%), technical execution (20%), strategy (15%), presentation and reflection (15%).
You do not need to publish publicly. You are graded on the quality of your work and your decisions—not on views or followers.
